Despite the fact that kitesurfing as a sport has been around for several decades many people have not the slightest idea of it. The popularity of kitesurfing is growing every year and according to expert estimates in 2012 about 700,000 people have been professionally involved in this sport. Kitesurfing appeared as early as the 19th century, when George Pocock (British admiral) started using flying kites on ships, and the crew of the ship assembled them. Each decade the construction of kites improved, and by the mid-50s of the 20th century, first attempts to move about the water surface with the help of kites were made (water skis, skates and many other devices were used). In the end of the 20th century, kitesurfing was officially patented, and many fans of extreme sports streamed to the sea with their boards and kites. And in 2009, kitesurfing was recognized as an official sport.
Just imagine this wonderful feeling when the air flow makes you glide over the smooth water surface. Acrobatics, pirouettes, jumps and flights – all these are possible only in kitesurfing. In kitesurfing various types of special equipment and outfit are used, and there are certain rules. Though, if you still want to feel sprays of water and wind on your face, you may need only to observe certain safety rules.
